Our Role

Countless partnerships exist in the Intermountain West for the purpose of conserving the region’s fish, wildlife and other natural resources. The IWJV brings the following to the larger conservation community:

  • A regional context to bird conservation in the West by looking beyond state and other jurisdictional boundaries.
  • A long history of building diverse public-private partnerships that can effectively deliver habitat conservation.
  • Specific expertise such as avian population-habitat modeling skills; a detailed understanding of the Farm Bill, North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA), and state fish and wildlife agency operations; and policy experience to bear in helping our vast network of partners conserve the habitat needed to support bird populations at desired levels.
