Priority Species

The first step in implementing SHC is determining priority species and developing population objectives for those species. This gives us a goal and a way of ultimately knowing how much habitat is enough. The IWJV, through its Science Teams, has established priority species from which to base our planning. Priority species lists are displayed on each Science Team web link, and are tiered mainly from the FWS Birds of Management Concern (BMC) species that occur within the Intermountain West.
