John E. Nagel Award
The John E. Nagel Award was established in 2000 and named in honor of the IWJV’s first Management Board Chairman. The award is presented annually to an individual, organization, agency or other entity in recognition of exceptional contributions to the mission of the Joint Venture.
How to Nominate
The award will be publicized in the IWJV newsletter, the Intermountain Quarterly, prior to the nomination deadline of June 1st. Nominations should be directed to the coordinator, Dave Smith, before this deadline. Nominations should be made in the form of a maximum two-page narrative addressing the nominee’s contribution to the Joint Venture’s conservation efforts.
The coordinator will distribute nominations to the members of the Management Board Awards Committee, who will then evaluate the nominations using the following selection criteria:
- The relative significance of the contribution to the mission of the Joint Venture.
- The degree of commitment to the mission of the Joint Venture, e.g., time expended on a project or other JV work, effort extended to facilitate partnerships, funds raised for a project, or other appropriate work.
- The relative importance of the contributions to the resource, e.g., value to the avian resource, acres and/or value of habitat protected, restored or enhanced.
