Pheasants Forever/ Quail Forever


Al began with Pheasants Forever/Quail Forever in February of 2018 and in his role, he oversees the field operations for PF/QF in 11 western states (NM, AZ, CA, NV, CO, WY, MT, OR, WA, ID, and UT) by building partnership and leading a team of partnership biologists, fund raising specialists, and a dedicated group of volunteers in all of these states. Before working with Pheasants Forever/Quail Forever Al spent 12 years leading the Arizona Game and Fish Department Private Lands Program, the Department’s Access Program, and all the landscape level habitat initiative programs for the Department. He was a member of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Agriculture Committee where he worked with state and federal legislators on the Farm Bill, and several state bills that sought to protect private landowner rights related and promote hunter access to public lands. Al is dedicated to using partnerships to promote conservation in the West. Prior to working in the West, Al spent five years working with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources as an Area Wildlife Manager overseeing habitat restoration and wildlife population monitoring in a five-county area in west-central Minnesota. Most of his work was focused on tall grass prairie restoration and prairie pothole wetland restoration projects for waterfowl, pheasants, and passerine birds.
