Donald Auer, Habitat and Lands Assistant Chief

Donald Auer is the is the Habitat and Lands Assistant Chief in the Wildlife Management Division at the New Mexico Department of Game & Fish. His section manages state owned wildlife management areas throughout New Mexico, and he works closely with state and federal partners to promote habitat and watershed restoration across land ownership types. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Kenyon College, and earned a master's degree in landscape ecology from Duke University. He started his career as a fisheries technician and later a habitat biologist in southern Utah. Originally from Oklahoma, Donald, his wife and their two daughters now reside in Santa Fe.
