Northern Wetlands Reserve Program
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service
Nathan Key is the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Northern Wetlands Reserve Program Team Leader and plays a key role in the restoration and protection of wetlands in the IWJV’s Southern Oregon-Northeastern California (SONEC) focal area. Nate works with private landowners and conservation partners to restore wetlands and conserve them for future generations through conservation easements. He studied wildlife biology at Humboldt State University. Some of his earlier positions included working for Wildlands Inc., a private mitigation banking company, and in various U.S. Geological Survey seasonal positions before joining the NRCS in 2004. Nate’s passion for conservation has stemmed from his family’s history in agriculture and a lifetime as a sportsman.
