SageCon
The SageCon partnership provides a statewide framework for implementation of Oregon’s Sage Grouse Action Plan. Joint Venture partners have played key roles since SageCon’s inception. The partnership has generated more than $60 million for implementation since 2015.
NRCS’s Sage Grouse Initiative and the Bureau of Land Management have removed juniper on thousands of acres of private and public lands. An IWJV-BLM partnership funded a new position in 2019 to coordinate local implementation teams.
Scientists with The Nature Conservancy and Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Station are developing new technologies for habitat restoration. Partners have been working with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to establish a state-of-the-art mitigation program and testing new strategies to limit the number of “mega-fires” through a wildfire collaborative.
